It’s disappointing to see Google backtrack on its commitment to transparency by not releasing a system card for Gemini 2.5 Pro, especially when companies like Anthropic and Meta have taken steps to share their safety documentation. This undermines the everyday user’s ability to build media and tech literacy. If we can’t see how these models work or what risks they carry, how can the public be expected to engage critically with the technology shaping their digital lives?

Important to consider the arrow of causation here. It is not surprising that people that are lonely and socializing less would use chatbots more. It seems still to be determined whether chatbot use causes reduced socialization.

I am a bit saddened to hear of the lack of system card of safety testing disclosed for the gemini 2.5 model by google. i have been using it a lot in the past week and will need to figure out if i am ethically continue using it...sigh.
